Adapter Configuration Dialog Box
Select Configure»Adapters to launch the Adapter Configuration dialog box, in which you can change settings that apply to each adapter, specify the selected adapter new steps you create use, and specify which adapters you can select in the Insertion Palette and adapter list controls.
Select an adapter by enabling the option in the Selected column of the Adapter list control. You can also use the Insertion Palette to specify a module adapter. The selected adapter applies only to step types that can use any module adapter, such as the Action, Numeric Limit Test, Multiple Numeric Limit Test, String Value Test, and Pass/Fail Test step types. Refer to the Insert Step option in the Steps pane context menu for more information about how TestStand uses the selected adapter when you insert a step.
Select an adapter in the Adapter list control and click the Configure button to launch an adapter-specific dialog box in which you configure the adapter. The following adapter-specific dialog boxes are available:
- LabVIEW Adapter Configuration —Specifies which LabVIEW server TestStand uses, specifies whether to reserve loaded VIs for execution, and selects the source code template policy.
- LabVIEW NXG Adapter Configuration —Specifies which LabVIEW NXG server TestStand uses, specifies whether to reserve loaded VIs for execution, and selects the source code template policy.
- LabWindows/CVI Adapter Configuration —Specifies whether to show function arguments in step descriptions, whether to execute steps in process or in an external instance of LabWindows/CVI, the default structure passing size, and the source code template policy.
- C/C++ DLL Adapter Configuration —Specifies whether to show function arguments in step descriptions and the default structure passing size.
- .NET Adapter Configuration —Specifies whether to show function arguments in step descriptions.
- ActiveX/COM Adapter Configuration —Specifies whether to use late binding, show method arguments in step descriptions, and unload used servers after execution.
- HTBasic Adapter Configuration —Indicates the HTBasic server to use and the working directory. (64-bit TestStand) The HTBasic Adapter is not supported.
-
Sequence Adapter Configuration
—Specifies whether to show function arguments in step descriptions.
Note By default, the Sequence Adapter contains a checkmark in the option for the Hidden column and does not appear in the Adapter ring control. You must remove the checkmark from the option in the Hidden column to enable the Sequence Adapter. National Instruments recommends using a Sequence Call step instead.
- Python Adapter Configuration —Specifies which Python interpreter session to use, which Python version and Python virtual environment path to use, and which viewer to use to launch Python modules.
You can also remove an adapter from controls that list adapters by enabling the option in the Hidden column.
