Uploading Data to Specification Compliance Manager

The Bench Data Connector Browser supports direct upload of test data to Specification Compliance Manager (SCM). Before you can transfer data between these DataStudio applications, you must configure a Specification Compliance Manager server connection for the Browser.

Configuring a Specification Compliance Manager Server for Data Upload

Configuration of a Specification Compliance Manager (SCM) server requires edits to Bench Data Connector Browser configuration files.

Tip The Browser can support connections to multiple SCM servers at one time.
  • Install and activate SCM.
  • Set up an SCM server.
  • Generate and copy an API token for the SCM server.
  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Bench Data Connector\Browser\config
  2. Open BDC.yml using your preferred text editor application.
  3. Edit the following fields within the fileUpload » SCMservers section of the file with information for the SCM server.
    1. Edit SCMserverHost to match the SCM server instance hostname IP address.
    2. Edit SCMserverAPIToken to match the API token that was generated by SCM for the server.
  4. If you need to configure connections to more than one SCM server, create a copy of the SCMserverNumber, SCMserverHost, and SCMserverAPIToken fields to correspond with the new SCM server.

Uploading Data to the Specification Compliance Manager Server

After you configure a Specification Compliance Manager (SCM) server in the Bench Data Connector Browser, you can upload data logs directly to SCM through the Browser.

  • Configure an SCM server connection using the Browser.
  1. Select one of more data logs to upload to the SCM server.
    Note After you select files in the Browser, a menu appears at the bottom of the interface that displays the number of rows selected and options to interact with the files.
  2. Click Upload to NI Data Studio.
  3. Select the SCM server(s) that will receive the data.
  4. Click Proceed.
  5. Select the Product, Revision, and Discipline for the data upload.
  6. Click Upload.
After the data upload process begins, the Browser displays the upload progress in the bottom-right corner of the interface. The Browser displays an icon after the upload is complete to indicate if it was successful. If the upload failed, hover over the failure icon to view an error message with details about the issue.
