Automating FlexLogger Operations Using TestStand

Use the FlexLogger TestStand step to automate FlexLogger operations from a TestStand sequence.

Introduced in FlexLogger 2025 Q1

Select FlexLogger Support for TestStand when installing FlexLogger to install the FlexLogger TestStand step. This step is selected by default if TestStand is already installed on your machine.
Note The FlexLogger TestStand step is supported in TestStand 2021 64-bit and newer versions of TestStand.

This feature is available only as part of a complete FlexLogger license. Refer to FlexLogger Editions for more information.

You can automate the following FlexLogger operations using the FlexLogger TestStand step:
  • Opening and closing a FlexLogger project
  • Starting and stopping a test
  • Changing the value of a FlexLogger channel
  • Getting and setting test metadata and logging information

You can open the shipping example in C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\TestStand <version> (64-bit)\Examples\FlexLogger to see how to use some FlexLogger operations from TestStand.

  1. Launch your TestStand sequence and drag the FlexLogger step onto your sequence from the TestStand Step Types menu.
  2. Configure the step settings for the FlexLogger step using the Step Settings window. You can select the FlexLogger operation you want to automate using the drop-down list at the top of the window.
