NI-VNA State Diagram
The following figure illustrates the state diagram for an NI-VNA measurement.

In this diagram, after you initialize the device, the device transitions to the Initialized state. From this state, you can set properties and attributes to configure the device. Calling commit, initialize user calibration, or load calibration and configuration data from file commit the settings you have configured and transitions the device into the Committed state. If you set or reset any attributes in the Committed state, the device returns to the Initialized state.
From the committed state, you can initiate the device to enter the Running state, at which point the device waits for a Start Trigger and, after it receives it, starts the sweep operation. If you call abort, NI-VNA transitions to the Done state if the sweep is complete or to the Committed state if aborting stops a sweep in progress. After the device is in the Done state, you can set more attributes, if necessary, which returns the device to the Initialized state.
