Measure Distances

Measure Distances

Owning Palette: Machine Vision
Requires: NI Vision Development Module

Use the Measure Distances VIs to measure distances in an image, such as the minimum and maximum horizontal separation between two vertically oriented edges or the minimum or maximum vertical separation between two horizontally oriented edges.

Palette Object Description
IMAQ Clamp Horizontal Max

Measures a distance in the horizontal direction, from the vertical sides of the search area towards the center of the search area.

IMAQ Clamp Horizontal Min

Measures a distance in the horizontal direction, from the center of the search area towards the vertical sides of the search area.

IMAQ Clamp Vertical Max

Measures a distance in the vertical direction, from the horizontal sides of the search area towards the center of the search area.

IMAQ Clamp Vertical Min

Measures a distance in the vertical direction, from the center of the search area towards the horizontal sides of the search area.

IMAQ Clamp Max

Finds edges along a region of interest (rotated rectangle only) and measures the distance between the furthest opposed points on the edges found. Edges are determined by extracting contours from the ROI and analyzing their order and geometry. When valid calibration information is present, the distance is measured in pixels and real-world units.
