System Requirements

NI-DAQmx 2023 Q1 has the following requirements:

  • 1 GHz or faster 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 2 GB of RAM

Supported Operating Systems

NI-DAQmx 2023 Q1 supports the following operating systems:

  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows Server 2016 (64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2019 (64-bit)

Note  NI-DAQmx no longer supports any 32-bit Windows operating system.

Application Software Support

NI-DAQmx 2023 Q1 supports the following application software versions, including service packs. If you are not using NI application software, refer to Microsoft Visual Studio Support.

The following table lists the programming languages and Microsoft Visual Studio versions supported by this version of NI-DAQmx. Earlier versions of NI-DAQmx support other application software and language versions.

Installation Instructions

Download the NI-DAQmx installer from ni.com/downloads. NI software includes NI Package Manager to handle the installation. Refer to the NI Package Manager Documentation for more information about installing, removing, and upgrading NI software using Package Manager.

After installing your software, you will need to activate it. Activating your software verifies the licenses associated with your NI account, so you can start using your software. You have different options for activation, based on your software and how it was purchased. Please visit ni.com/activate for more information on activation methods.

Notes

  • If Windows Update is enabled, the installation process might hang if Windows Update interferes with the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Run-Time. Visit ni.com/r/exjq43 for more information and steps to resolve this issue.
  • If you purchased this product with an NI Software Suite or NI Product Bundle, use the installation media that shipped with your purchase to install this product.
  • Use the serial number that is included with your software to activate NI-DAQmx 2023 Q1. For more information on NI-DAQmx 2023 Q1 activation, refer to Activating a Product.

Updated LabVIEW Compatibility Policy

The "NI-DAQmx Support for LabVIEW" package supports applications using NI-DAQmx ​with LabVIEW 2022 or later. When installing NI-DAQmx, this package will be recommended if you have already installed LabVIEW 2022 or later and installs to the LVAddons directory.

Device Support in NI-DAQmx

Visit NI Hardware and Software Operating System Compatibility to view driver, desktop operating system, and real-time operating system support for individual hardware devices.

To view information for your device:

  • Select your hardware model in the dropdown list on the page to view compatibility information for your device.
  • Type your hardware model number in the dropdown list on the web page to filter the list of available devices.

Note: Some compatibility information may only be available in the archive attached to the NI Hardware and Operating System Compatibility page. For historic driver and OS support information, refer to the readme for the relevant driver version.

Additional Hardware Support Information

FieldDAQ
  • As of DAQmx 19.1, FieldDAQ firmware is distributed with the DAQmx driver and installed via MAX. For additional information, refer to Firmware Information for NI FieldDAQ Devices.
  • To fully enable TSN synchronization features, TSN-enabled chassis and devices should update to at least firmware version 20.0.
  • Certain NI Linux Real-Time controllers, including the the cRIO-904x and cRIO-905x NI Linux Real-Time controllers support C Series modules in DAQmx mode.
CompactRIO Controllers and CompactRIO Single-Board Controllers For these controllers, you must install both NI CompactRIO and NI-DAQmx. For additional information on driver support, refer to Software Support for CompactRIO, CompactDAQ, Single-Board RIO, R Series, and EtherCAT.
SC Express Accessories Support for SC Express terminal blocks and other accessories is documented for individual devices in the Notes section of the NI Hardware and Operating System Compatibility page.
C Series, Network DAQ, and USB DAQ
CompactDAQ Chassis
  • As of DAQmx 19.1, CompactDAQ chassis firmware is distributed with the DAQmx driver and installed via MAX. For additional information, refer to Firmware Information for NI CompactDAQ Network Chassis.
  • To fully enable TSN synchronization features, cDAQ-9185/9 chassis should update to at least firmware version 20.0.
  • The NI cDAQ-9181, NI cDAQ-9184, NI cDAQ-9188, NI cDAQ-9188XT, and NI cDAQ-9191 devices are not supported by Real-Time controllers.
  • Regarding the NI cDAQ-9185 and NI cDAQ-9189 chassis: Only the cRIO-904x and cRIO-905x NI Linux Real-Time controllers support C Series modules in DAQmx mode.
CompactDAQ Controllers
  • Regarding the NI cDAQ-9136 and NI cDAQ-9137: real-time support for this controller was added in the LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2015.
Switches As of NI-DAQmx 14.5, the NI-DAQmx Switch API is obsolete and is no longer recommended for new applications.

Some devices are no longer supported in NI-DAQmx. Refer to Devices No Longer Supported in NI-DAQmx 17.6 and Later for specific devices and the versions in which support was dropped.

Using NI Software with Microsoft Windows 11

Microsoft Windows 11 is the latest version of the Windows operating system and features significant changes compared to previous versions. For more information about NI support for Windows 11, refer to NI Product Compatibility for Microsoft Windows 11.

Unsupported Windows Operating Systems

NI-DAQmx no longer supports Windows Vista/XP/7/8.x, Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, or any 32-bit Windows operating system. Versions of this product that ship after May 1, 2021, may not install or execute correctly on these operating systems. NI No Longer Supports Phar Lap ETS Real-Time Operating System

NI Software no longer supports Phar Lap ETS Real-Time Operating System. Versions of this product that ship after May 1, 2022, may not install or execute correctly on this operating system.
