I moduli di temporizzazione e sincronizzazione PXI‑6683 permettono di sincronizzare sistemi PXI e PXI Express con GPS, IEEE 1588 e IRIG‑B a eventi sincroni. PXI‑6683 permette di generare eventi e segnali di clock ad istanti precisi e sincronizzati, e generare timestamp per eventi in ingresso grazie al tempo di sistema sincronizzato. PXI‑6683 integra un oscillatore TCXO (temperature‑compensated crystal oscillator) che può essere utilizzato su su GPS, IEEE 1588, IRIG‑B o per stabilità a lungo termine. È possibile utilizzare PXI‑6683 per instradare i segnali di clock e trigger con bassa distorsione in uno chassis PXI o tra chassis multipli, offrendo un metodo per la sincronizzazione di dispositivi multipli in un sistema PXI.
