PCIe-1477 è dotato di un FPGA programmabile dall'utente per l'elaborazione di immagini su scheda. Posizionati direttamente sul percorso immagine, gli FPGA sono in grado di acquisire ed elaborare le immagini con controllo closed-loop senza utilizzo della CPU. Questa tecnologia è ideale anche per sistemi complessi che eseguono la pre-elaborazione dati di immagini su FPGA che sono poi inviati alla CPU per ulteriore elaborazione. PCIe-1477 supporta anche tecnologia PoCL (Power over Camera Link) e può alimentare telecamere tramite cavi PoCL compatibili.
