You can increase the amount of installed RAM on NI PXI controllers by upgrading the SO-DIMMS. This document lists the RAM options that are available for your PXI controller.
NI has tested and verified that the SO-DIMMs we sell work with the controllers listed below. We recommend you purchase your SO-DIMM modules from NI. Other off-the-shelf SO-DIMM modules are not guaranteed to work properly.
Use the table below to identify what RAM options are available for your controller. Each PXI controller comes with existing standard RAM. The SO-DIMM modules can provide additional RAM or replace the existing amount. The total amount must not exceed the maximum supported RAM of the PXI controller.
For PXI controllers that have multiple available SO-DIMM sockets, select the same size and speed SO-DIMM module in each of the sockets. The use of different size modules in each socket is supported, but system performance will be slower than using two matched modules. However, two mismatched modules will result in better performance than using a single module.

Refer to the Upgrade RAM or Upgrade Information section of your PXI controller’s user manual. The manuals provide a diagram of where the SO-DIMM sockets are located on the controller.
When installing SO-DIMM modules on controllers with multiple sockets, the sockets must be populated from lowest to highest socket. If a single SO-DIMM module is used, it must be installed in the lowest socket.
