Renewing Expired Agreements

Send a VLA Log to NI to renew an expired volume license agreement.

The VLA Log records all instances of policy and permissions changes, including overdrafts. This information is encrypted to ensure that no one accidentally edits the VLA Log and invalidates the usage information.

NI uses the VLA Log to help determine appropriate agreement fees for renewal and, upon receipt of the VLA Log, NI returns to you a new agreement license file that reflects any changes in the quantity of licenses you own. When you receive the new agreement license file, install it following the directions in Installing an Agreement License File.

After 60 days past volume license agreement expiration, your software will stop working. NI generates a new agreement license file as soon as you send the VLA Log to NI.

At any time during the 60 days before the agreement expires or after the agreement expires, you can send your VLA Log to your local NI agreements representative to renew your software agreement.

For information on generating the VLA Log, refer to Sending a VLA Log to NI.
