TestStand launches the Use Unique Ids dialog box when you click Insert or Replace in the Expression Browser dialog box when the selected item in the tree control contains a step name and the Specify Steps in Expression option on the Preferences tab of the Station Options dialog box is set to Ask. Select Yes if you want to specify steps in the expression by their unique IDs instead of their step name.

The Use Unique Ids dialog box contains the following options:

• Specify Steps in Expressions —Specifies whether TestStand displays this dialog box in the future or uses a specific setting by default. The following options are available in the ring control:
  • Ask —TestStand launches this dialog box.
  • By Unique Step ID —TestStand automatically converts step names to unique IDs.
  • By Step Name —TestStand does not convert step names to unique IDs.
