Assembling the TS-15000 for Direct-Mounting

This procedure walks you through assembling the TestScale components for the TS-15000 direct-mount option, including the backplane, core module, and I/O modules.

Note Refer to your backplane Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information document for environmental guidelines, electromagnetic compatibility notices, safety requirements, and additional information.

Attaching the Side Panels to a Custom Interface Board

  1. Insert and tighten the standoffs to the designated holes on the side brackets.
  2. Align the standoffs attached to the side brackets to the corresponding mounting holes on the custom interface board.
  3. Insert and tighten the screws to the standoffs to affix the side brackets to the custom interface board.
Note Tighten the screws and standoffs to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.

Attaching the Modules

Before affixing the the modules to the front panel, note each module position. The core module must always be positioned in the Core Slot of the backplane. Serial number labels are provided in the module kits to identify modules on the cable or the assembly. Refer to the Positioning Your TestScale Modules topic for additional information.

Align the module connectors and insert into the associated connectors on the custom interface board.

Attaching the Backplane

Fasten the Standoffs to the Backplane

  1. Align the standoffs and provided screws to the designated holes on the rear of backplane.
  2. Insert and tighten the screws to affix the standoffs to the rear of the backplane.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.

Affix the Backplane to the Modules

  1. Align and affix the module connectors to their corresponding backplane connectors.
  2. Insert and tighten the standoffs in the backplane mounting holes to fasten the backplane to the fixture.
Note Tighten the standoffs to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.

Attaching the Rear Panel

Notice Some components on the backplane, i.e. the shielded power inductor (shown in the following figure) have minimal clearances and can be damaged during assembly. Take care when attaching the rear panel to the backplane to not bend, slide, or otherwise damage components on the backplane.

1378

  1. Align the mounting holes on the rear panel with the corresponding standoffs on the backplane.
  2. Insert and tighten the provided screws to fasten the rear panel to the fixture.
Note Tighten the screws to 0.60 N · m (5.0 lb · in) of torque.
