SLSC-12001 Backplane Installation Guide and Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Information
Installing the Backplane Kit
This kit is designed to mount on the rear of an nVent RatiopacPRO Air chassis or its subcomponents used in a custom frame. The following table lists the kit contents.
Quantity in Kit | Description |
---|---|
1 | SLSC-12001 backplane with battery and controller installed |
1 | Backplane cover with label |
2 | Horizontal mounting rail |
2 | Mounting rail brackets |
2 | Tapped strips |
4 | Square nuts |
4 | M4 x 6 mm flat head screws |
6 | M2.5 x 6 mm flat head screws |
20 | M2.5 x 10 mm pan head screws |
8 | M2.5 x 28 mm pan head screws |
1 | M4 x 10 mm pan head screw with integrated washer |
2 | 15/32 washer |
2 | 1/2-28 hex nut |
1 | Two-position power plug |
Complete the following steps to mount the SLSC-12001 backplane on a chassis or chassis frame:
- Insert the tapped strips into the horizontal mounting rail.
- Attach the mounting rail brackets to the ends of the horizontal mounting rail using the M2.5 x 6 mm screws, three screws for each bracket, with 5 lb · in torque. The rail should have the tapped strips facing the rear of the chassis or frame, with the three screw holes on the ends forming downward right triangles. Orient the brackets so the three screws are at the bottom edge.
- Attach the rail and brackets to the chassis or frame using the square nuts and M4 x 6 mm screws, two screws and nuts for each side, with 17 lb · in torque. Align the square nuts in the chassis or frame side panel so the backplane can mount to the lower tapped strip in the rail assembly and the tapped strip at the bottom rear of the chassis or frame.
- Loosely attach the backplane to the tapped strips using the M2.5 x 10 mm screws, placing them in the holes marked M2.5 on the backplane. Support the backplane by hand while inserting SLSC modules in slots 1 and 12. Fully tighten the backplane screws to 5 lb · in torque while the modules are in place to ensure proper backplane alignment. Remove the modules when done.
- Attach the backplane cover to the backplane using the M2.5 x 28 mm screws with 5 lb · in torque. The screws go into the tapped strips through the unmarked backplane holes.
- Attach the washers and hex nuts to the BNC connectors with 11.5 lb · in torque.
- Attach the screw with integrated washer into the ground hole on the backplane cover.
