Connecting PAtools to an Existing Database
- Launch PAconfigurator.
- In the Navigation area, click New Config.
- In the New Data Source Configuration tab, enter a unique name in the Name field.
- Optional: Add a description of the data source in the Description field.
- Optional: Enable Use Configuration as default if you want to use the selected data source when PAconfigurator launches.

Set the authentication according to your server configuration requirements.
Option Description Use Windows Authentication Recommended Use SQL Server Authentication Use this option to set an SQL Server authentication login. Enter the user name and password that you received from your IT department. -
Set the database connection.
- From the Server drop-down list, select the SQL Server® name where the database is stored. If necessary, wait until the list of available servers is completely filled. This may take a few seconds.

From the Database drop-down list, select the desired
database. The list of databases generates after you specify the server.
Note If you cannot reach the desired SQL Server® during the configuration of the connection, it is also possible to enter the name of the SQL Server® instance and the database in the text fields. In this case, however, no check can be made as to whether the entered SQL Server® instance exists or whether the configured database exists in this SQL Server® instance.
- Click Test data source to verify the data source configuration.
- Click Save to store the new data source configuration.
- Select the desired data source configuration and click Continue.
