Homogenous TriggerA synchronized trigger in a synchronized session. All sessions react to a homogenous trigger at the same time. Refer to Homogenous and Heterogenous Triggers for more information on the conditions that make a trigger homogenous.
Heterogenous TriggerA trigger that does not fulfill any of the conditions for a homogenous trigger. Refer to Homogenous and Heterogenous Triggers for more information on the conditions that make a trigger heterogenous.

None TriggerAn unconfigured—but TClk-supported—trigger. When you do not configure a supported trigger, the trigger is referred to as None.

Reference ClockThe clock to which a device phase locks another, usually faster, clock. A common source for the Reference Clock is the 10 MHz oscillator signal on the PXI backplane.

S

Sample ClockThe clock that triggers a device to begin the production of a sample.
Sample Timebase ClockThe clock from which the Sample Clock is derived by dividing down or by decimation.
SessionA software concept for communicating or interacting with a particular physical instrument or a subset of a physical instrument.
Sync PulseA single pulse signal that is used to synchronize Trigger Clock (TClk) signals on different devices. The Sync Pulse measures misalignment between TClks on different devices.
Sync Pulse ClockA clock, usually 10 MHz (on PXI and PCI devices), used to synchronize TClk signals on different devices. The Sync Pulse Clock is typically a Reference Clock.

T

Trigger Clock (TClk)A periodic signal generated by each device from the device's sample clock or sample clock timebase, used to synchronize triggers in a TClk session or sessions. TClk VIs and functions can synchronize TClk signals on different devices.
TimebaseThe reference signals for controlling the basic accuracy of time-based or frequency-based measurements. For instruments, timebase refers to the accuracy of the internal clock.
Trigger Maser Session (TMS)A session that controls homogenous trigger firing in other sessions.
