Downloading the EtherCAT Slave Device Firmware

Note Before you perform this operation you must obtain the slave device firmware from the device vendor. |
Follow these steps to download the EtherCAT slave device firmware to upgrade the EtherCAT slave device:
- Right-click the EtherCAT slave device item and select Online Device State to display the Online Slave Device State dialog box and switch to the EtherCAT:Online:State page.
Note If the Online Device State menu is disabled, check the following items: - Be sure the target controller and slave device are connected.
- Be sure the target item in the project has the correct IP address.
- Be sure the EtherCAT master item has the correct adapter. You can change the physical adapter on the General page of the EtherCAT Master Properties dialog box.
- Be sure you have deployed the master settings by right-clicking the master item and selecting the Deploy menu.
- Click Change to Bootstrap to change the slave device mode to Bootstrap.
Note Before downloading firmware, you should change the scan engine to Configuration mode by right-clicking the controller item and selecting Utilities»Scan Engine Mode»Switch to Configuration. - Click Download Firmware to display the Download Firmware dialog box.
Note You can also use this dialog box to download a precompiled FPGA bitfile to the FPGA target item under the NI 9145 item. - Select the firmware file and click Download. The firmware download may take several seconds.
