My device does not appear in MAX

Complete the following steps to troubleshoot a local device that does not appear in MAX.

  • Verify that the device shows up in Windows Device Manager. If it does not, verify the connection between the device and the local system.
  • If your device is listed in Windows Device Manager, verify that you have the correct driver installed. Visit ni.com/drivers to download the latest version of your driver.
  • If you have the correct driver installed, verify that the NI Device Loader service is running.
    1. Log in as a user with administrative privileges.
    2. (Windows 7) Select Start»Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services. (Windows XP) Select Start»Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services.
    3. Right-click the NI Device Loader service and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
    4. Make sure that the service status is Started. If it is not, use the Start button to start the service.
  • Select View»Refresh or press the <F5> key to refresh the MAX configuration tree.

Remote Systems

Complete the following steps to troubleshoot a remote system that does not appear in MAX.

  • Select View»Refresh or press the <F5> key to refresh the MAX configuration tree.
  • Verify that the system is on the same subnet as the computer from which you are running MAX.
  • Create a new remote system.
