Configuring Ethernet over USB Devices
You can use a USB cable to connect supported devices to a host computer and acquire an IP address. These devices, such as the myRIO-1900, appear under the Remote Systems section of the configuration tree.
The IP address assigned to the device over USB can only be used by the host computer. If you want to connect to the device from another computer on the subnet, use one of the following options.
- Connect to a wireless network. You can connect to a wireless network to obtain an IP address that can be used to connect to the device over the network. If you connect to a wireless network, you also can use the host name of the target to connect remotely. Use the Network Settings tab to connect to a wireless network.
- Connect the device to your host computer using an Ethernet to USB adapter.
- Bridge the device's network adapter to an adapter with network connectivity. For more information about bridging your network adapter, refer to KnowledgeBase article 6CK9HDGW.
You also can create a wireless network on supported devices.
