Understanding Multisim's Component Colors

Overview

There are three categories of components in Multisim: virtual, real and layout-only. These components appear on the schematic in different colors based on which category they fall into. The colors can can also be customized based on user preferences. This tutorial provides an overview of the default component colors, and provides instructions on how to customize these colors.

The colors shown in the chart above are the defaults.  To change them:

  1. Navigate to Options > Sheet Properties
  2. In the Color group box, select Custom
  3. To change the color of a Real component, change the Component with model color
  4. To change the color of a Layout-only component, change the Component without model color
  5. To change the color of a Virtual component, change the Virtual component color
